Deacon Hill Research Associates LLC is a Network of Experts
DHRA LLC operates as a hub that brings together a network of on-call education experts, researchers, and support staff to collaborate virtually. Our network consists of subject matter experts, methodologists, graphic designers, technical editors, and communications staff located across the United States. Our body of work spans pre-K to postsecondary, covering topics from kindergarten readiness to college retention and persistence.
We offer services that encompass the full range of research methodologies: randomized controlled trials; quasi-experimental designs; secondary data analysis; descriptive survey research; program evaluation; research syntheses; classroom observations; qualitative focus groups; and interviews. Our areas of expertise include applied educational and psychological measurement; data visualization; strategic communication; teacher professional development; English language learners, adolescent literacy, students with disabilities; and student learning and academic achievement.
The breadth, depth, and diversity of our network is one of our greatest assets, allowing DHRA to respond nimbly, efficiently, and effectively to a wide array of research and technical support needs.
Who We Serve
Research Products & Services
Our staff members are veteran program evaluators who have worked with districts, states, and federal agencies to conduct formative and summative evaluations. If you need an external evaluator for your grant, please contact us. We have served as “critical friends” on multiple NSF grants.
Mixed Methods Research
We use the tools that are most appropriate to answer the research questions at hand, drawing as needed from qualitative and quantitative methods. We have decades of experience conducting field-based research and know how to build rapport with
educators and practitioners to recruit and maintain study samples.
Looking for a small business partner to conduct classroom observations for your study? We have on staff several certified CLASS observers (upper elementary level).
Our research associates are experienced in data analysis, including management and file-building of large datasets and secondary analyses of existing data (e.g., NCES, NSC, Census, district and state files). We are proficient in advanced statistical modeling for impact analyses (HLM, multiple imputation, propensity score matching, value-added modeling) using SAS and SPSS. Our staff are also experts in Tableau, SQL, ArcGIS, and Excel.
Our communication specialists work closely with our researchers to develop dissemination products (e.g., infographics, newsletters, briefs, flyers) that are accurate, attractive, and written in plain language. We work with clients to develop systematic plans for dissemination (including social media). We also offer webinar hosting and support, ranging from full campaigns (planning, outreach, reminders, satisfaction surveys) to simple hosting-only, one-time events.
